So when exactly is this thing getting launched? I'm waiting patiently to try it so I can compare it to the other companies out there and make a decision.

1. Multiple variations of player controls, and startup timers. The coolest one I've seen so far is the spiral counter with a small circle "X" at the bottom right. For such a short clip, I really don't think users need the full controls (rewind, pause, etc)

2. The biggest feature I'd like to see is the ability to launch the transparent flash from a link, not just when the page is loading. This would open up some MASSIVE doors for the virtual virtual assistant- hand holding someone through a site, without forcing them to be subject to a ton of these videos.

3. Allowing the POYP to build a sharable library of clips. Perhaps we won't use others as much as out own, but I'd sure like to compare how another video looks on my site- helps me measure my video quality, and generate new ideas from the creativity of the group. I'd contribute!

The first phase will be strictly B2B and offer the ability to post, host and manage your private clip library.

Once we have that running smoothly, we will open up the discussions with you, as content providers, as to the best ways to approach the marketing of your public clips.

We will most likely charge a set fee per ip address per clip. We will act a publisher but the lion's share of the fee will go to the clip creator.

At least that's how it looks today.

Yes, I was wondering about the "Gallery" and the difference between a public and a private clip. Have you had a chance yet to decide on any specifics? Will the copyright holder set the price for his or her clip? What percentage do you expect to go to POYP?

Steve, we are going to incorporate a script that will lock it to a particular web address. Also, your universal clips will be made available in the "Gallery" and B2C customers can purchase and get an embed code.

Keep the comments coming!

My experiment with the embed code is working great! I had a couple of thoughts about future developments.

From what you've said about how POYP will look in the future, it sounds like just what I need. I've already shot a large collection of appropriate clips, but didn't have the resources to set up an elaborate website such as this.

But - once I (or one of my customers) have installed the embed code on a web page, it seems like it would be easy for someone knowledgeable about source code to just copy the code from my page and paste it into their page.

This would not be a big worry for custom walk on clips that are only applicable to one page or one product. But it would be a minor concern for someone who wants to sell clips that can be used on many websites.

Maybe you can develop an optional "branding" feature that would show a small button in the player linked to the copyright holder's website - or to the copyright holder's section in the POYP store. Then I would welcome thieves. They would be unpaid affiliates!

Another thought about "universal" clips such as mine. There's really no need for me to deliver a copy of the clip to the customer, then have them open a POYP account and upload the clip again. The copyright holder could upload all his or her clips to POYP, then just sell the customer the embed code.

Hey Dave, yep - a few issues that cropped up when we installed a new player. These are being resolved as we speak. I'll send out an announcement later today with a rundown of where things are.
